Doing things differently; I did, and so can you!
In December 2002, I got on a plane with my nine year old son, and flew to the Jungles of Borneo in order to change our fortunes. What followed was the most exciting, life changing and rewarding time of our lives.
Having bought my son up as a single parent for nine years, whilst working full time as a teacher, I decided that there must be more that life had to offer. Life had, up to that point, been ‘ok’, but I longed for excitement and change, for the both of us. So I applied for a teaching job in South East Asia, sold my house, put some of my life into storage, and the rest on a cargo ship bound for the Far East, packed a suitcase or four, and off we went…..
Packing a suitcase or four and moving to the other side of the world may not be your cup of tea, but what I’ve learned from it has really helped clients I’ve worked with.
Along with the move came fear, panic, tears, uncertainty, stress and the whole range of emotions and organisation that accompanied moving ourselves halfway around the world. Not to mention the settling in process once we got there, making friends, adjusting to life in a new culture and the feelings of loneliness for the first half term despite working in a busy school.
Tenacity, perseverance, determination and how to build on your strengths are all qualities I now help clients to develop…working with me will help you to build your confidence and improve your personal impact. You’ll be able to manage your nerves in new situations, so you feel motivated. Develop proven strategies for success!
I overcame all the challenges; Josh and I travelled the world, we embraced our new lives and I became the woman I knew I could be. I learned to turn down the inner voice that told me ‘You Can’t’, and turn up the voice that told me ‘You Can’! I see developing my confidence as the key ingredient to my progress and success in life.
As my client, I can help you to develop your own confidence by helping you to banish self-doubt and turn down that inner voice that holds you back. You ‘ll create the impact you desire at work, and realise your potential.
For years I had harboured a core belief about myself that I was not good enough, and this manifested itself through ‘The Imposter Syndrome’. Over time, I have learned to recognise these fears of being a’ fake’ and wondering when I would be ‘found out’, and have worked hard to acknowledge the ownership of my successes and not attribute them to luck. It’s been tough at times, but I’ve done it; when it rears its ugly head these days, I’m ready for it!
Feelings of being a ‘fake’ are surprisingly common in successful professionals. I can help you to overcome those feelings and see that you deserve the success you have – and help you achieve more! Lose those limiting beliefs. Learn to assert yourself so you feel listened to and respected.
That first plane journey was ten years ago now, and I have since moved twice more; once to Central America where I spent three years teaching, and then in 2010, back to the UK to begin the latest chapter of my life.
As a result, I can help you to be flexible, adaptable and overcome challenges. You’ll be able to stay calm and focussed when you’re under pressure. More confidence can help you blast through barriers and overcome setbacks. More confidence can help you harnass the strength to have more impact at work and achieve success.
